Legal Insurance

As specified by the terms of the insurance policy, legal insurance compensates you for expenses arising from court proceedings or the avoidance of court proceedings. These expenses include your own lawyer's fee, among other things.

Legal insurance is normally included in automobile and householder's policies, for example. A number of trade unions have also taken out legal insurance for their members.

Terms of legal insurance vary from one insurance company to the next. Householder's policies generally do not cover court proceedings related to work or gainful activity, court costs of persons accused of deliberate offences, or, if you lose the case, your opponent's court costs.

The insurance has an excess (a deductible), which is generally 15 % of the expenses. The amount of the insurance is defined in the policy. At present the most common top compensation is EUR 8400 per case.

We clarify at your initial consultation whether the handling of your case falls within the scope of legal insurance.
